Our story

We are Laura and Matt Elliott, first generation tenant farmers on the National Trust’s Sherborne Estate in Gloucestershire.

Our interest in farming has come from a fairly unusual starting place – 10 years ago we were living in Bristol and working in public sector office jobs.  We got an allotment, got interested in where our food comes from, went WWOOFing (Willing Workers On Organic Farms) and got hooked on farming…

In 2014 we were given a lucky break and came to live and work on a mixed Organic farm in Gloucestershire. Matt also started to study part-time at the Royal Agricultural University in Cirencester and Laura started a job with the Pasture Fed Livestock Association.

So, 5 years of learning and hard work culminated in 2018 when we were offered our own farm tenancy – a chance for us to show how we would like to do things differently!
